JoyCut Privacy Policy

JoyCut turns photos into transparent-background stickers and organizes them by date. We limit data processing to what is necessary to provide the app and do not use your photos, stickers, tags, or purchase status for advertising or tracking.

1. Information We Process

1.1 Content You Provide or Create

• Photos you take or select: When you take a photo or choose one from your library to create a sticker, JoyCut uses Apple Vision to identify and separate the subject on your device. The photo is not uploaded to our servers or to a third-party image processing service for subject detection or background removal.
• Generated results: The transparent-background result is stored locally in the app as a sticker. JoyCut writes an image to your Photos library only when you choose to save it.
• Collection records, tags, and notes: JoyCut stores sticker records, creation dates, image filenames, sticker types, tags, the tag library, and notes you enter on your device. This information supports the calendar, search, organization, and creation features.

1.2 Account and Cloud Backup Information

• Sign in with Apple: When you choose to enable cloud backup, JoyCut requests Sign in with Apple. The app stores the Apple user identifier and any name or email address Apple may provide on your device to show account status and restore your backup space.
• Backup identifier: To associate the same Apple account with the same cloud backup space, JoyCut generates a backup recovery code. A hashed form of the Apple user identifier and the recovery code are stored in the cloud.
• Cloud backup content: Only when you enable the Pro cloud backup feature are sticker images, collection records, dates, sticker types, tags, the tag library, and notes uploaded to Alibaba Cloud Object Storage Service (OSS) for backup and restoration across devices using the same account.

1.3 Purchases and Subscriptions

JoyCut uses Apple StoreKit for in-app purchases and auto-renewable subscriptions. Apple handles purchases, charges, refunds, and subscription management. The app reads the active entitlement status returned by Apple to determine whether Pro features are unlocked. We do not use purchase status for advertising or tracking.

1.4 Local Settings and Usage Limits

JoyCut stores necessary settings on your device, including daily free capture usage, Pro entitlement status, the cloud backup setting, the most recent backup time, and interface preferences. This information is used to provide app functionality and maintain your experience.

1.5 Technical Logs When You Visit This Page

When you visit this privacy policy page, the web server may automatically record basic access logs such as IP address, access time, browser type, and requested path. These logs support website operation, security investigation, and troubleshooting.

2. System Permissions

• Camera: Used to take photos and create stickers. You can disable camera access in iOS Settings.
• Add to Photos: Used only when you choose to save a generated image to your Photos library. JoyCut does not need access to read your full photo library.
• Sign in with Apple: Used only when you choose to enable cloud backup, so JoyCut can associate and restore your cloud backup space.

JoyCut does not currently request access to your location, contacts, microphone, advertising identifier, or App Tracking Transparency permission.

3. How We Use Information

• To create transparent-background stickers, display your collection calendar, manage tags, and save images;
• To back up and restore stickers, records, and tags after you enable cloud backup;
• To confirm Pro entitlements and process purchase restoration and subscription status;
• To maintain service stability and security and troubleshoot network or storage problems; and
• To comply with applicable laws, platform rules, and regulatory requirements.

4. Third-Party Services and Sharing

We use the following service providers to deliver necessary features. We do not sell your personal information or provide data to advertising tracking services.

• Apple: Used for Sign in with Apple, StoreKit in-app purchases, auto-renewable subscriptions, purchase restoration, and App Store distribution. Apple processes related information under its own privacy policy and terms.
• Alibaba Cloud: Used for optional cloud backup storage when you enable that feature, and to host this privacy policy and the Terms of Service. Related data is used only for backup, restoration, webpage access, and service security.

During network requests, service providers may process necessary technical information such as IP address, request time, and request status to complete transmission, protect the service, and diagnose failures.

5. Storage Location and Retention

• Local data: Stickers, tags, settings, and account status are stored on your device by default until you delete them in the app, uninstall the app, or clear the related data through the system.
• On-device image processing: Source photos and generated results used for subject detection are processed on your device. They are not uploaded to your cloud backup space unless you enable cloud backup.
• Cloud backup data: After cloud backup is enabled, related data is stored in Alibaba Cloud OSS until you delete local content and sync the deletion, contact us to delete the cloud backup after disabling the feature, or a longer retention period is required by law.
• Website access logs: Server logs are retained for as long as needed for security investigation and operations.

Disabling cloud backup stops future automatic uploads but does not automatically delete data already uploaded. To request deletion of a cloud backup, contact us as described below.

6. Your Choices and Rights

• You can manage camera, Add to Photos, and Sign in with Apple permissions in iOS Settings.
• You can delete local stickers and tags in the app or disable cloud backup.
• You can manage or cancel an auto-renewable subscription in your App Store account settings.
• You can contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of cloud backup or account-binding information associated with you. To protect your data, we may ask for information needed to verify that the request relates to the relevant backup space.

7. Children

JoyCut is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect children's personal information. If you are a minor, use the app with the consent and guidance of a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian who believes a minor has provided personal information may contact us so we can address the request.

8. Data Security

We use reasonable safeguards, including HTTPS transmission, restricted access to cloud objects, hashed account-to-backup associations, and data minimization. No method of internet transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when features, laws, or platform requirements change. The updated page will show a new revision date. If a change materially affects your rights or how your data is processed, we will provide notice in an appropriate place.
